Java is a computing platform released by Sun Microsystems in 1995. It enables applications -- including games, tools, and information programs and services to run on computers or devices ranging from desktop PCs to mobile handheld devices and cell phones.

J2EE the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition defines a standard for developing multi-tier enterprise applications. J2EE is based on standardized, modular components, providing a complete set of services to those components and handling many details of application behavior automatically, without complex programming.
